Learning the ins and outs of ‘tech-talk‘ is one of the hardest parts of working online. It doesn’t matter how you are thinking of earning money online, whichever avenue you choose you will need to understand some pretty basic terms. Unfortunately, what is considered ‘basic’ to folks who’ve been doing this for a while, isn’t really your idea of basic.
If you’re pretty young, then you have a good head start. You’ve grown up with computers as part of your everyday life. All you need to learn are the Internet phrases such as SEO, or PPC, etc. But if, like me, computers weren’t even invented, (until you’d reached that stage in life where your brain forgets more than it remembers), then you have to learn computer ‘tech-talk’ on top of everything else.
As an ‘Insider’ I’ve been lucky to develop relationships with some of the most tech savvy marketers out there. Alas, for them it’s been a rocky ride because when you’re trying to explain a simple exercise like how to make your words or phrases ‘clickable’, to someone who has no idea what a ‘hyper-link’ is, it can turn a 5minute training call into one that takes an hour!
Now for a newbie just starting out, the quicker you can learn this stuff, the quicker you can start creating websites, getting traffic to those websites, and getting the folks who visit those websites to put their money into your bank account. And if you’re wanting to earn anything more than just a few bucks, you WILL have to learn this stuff. Take it from yours truly, the time will come when not knowing what you’re doing or why you’re doing it is going to bite you in the bum!
So after some discussion with one of my fellow ‘Insiders’, we decided to give all you newbies, the benefit of some very basic ‘tech-talk’ translations. If there’s a particular tech-talk guide you’d like, shoot an e-mail and we’ll get that posted as quickly as possible. In the meantime, check back as often as you like as we build this up to be the most comprehensive “guide to tech-talk for newbies” ever.
